FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25, 2002

Senator Frank Murkowski (R-Alaska) turned his scheduled Congressional update at the Alaska Federation of Natives into a campaign speech.

Murkowski was to be joined yesterday by Sen. Ted Stevens (R) and Rep. Don Young (R) to discuss legislative issues. His colleagues, who were invited, didn't show up so he had the floor all to himself.

Murkowski is promoting more rural development, which pleases a number of Native leaders. He also said he supports putting the subsistence issue to voters.
