Surge didn't help Navajo's Begaye

A surge in votes for Navajo Nation President Kelsey Begaye couldn't help the incumbent win re-election over challenger Joe Shirley Jr.

Shirley had taken the most votes in the tribe's primary. Begaye gained support but lost by more than 7,000 votes.
