Tribal leaders claim voting victory

Tribal leaders in Oklahoma are citing their Indian voting initiative as crucial to the election of Democrat Brad Henry for state governor.

Henry won the race by less than 7,000 votes. Cherokee Nation Chad Smith told the AP that his tribe's 9,000 new voters contributed to the victory.

Henry supports a state lottery, which could bring Class III, or casino-style, gaming to the state. Tribes can currently operate Class II, or bingo-like, games only.
