A study by the Connecticut Office of Tourism shows that tribal casinos are a major draw for tourists.

According to the study, 57 percent of state visitors gambled on the Mashantucket Pequot Reservation and the Mohegan Reservation. They also stayed longer and spent more than a year ago.

Mohegan chairman Mark Brown made a speech yesterday and attacked critics of Indian gaming and the federal recognition process, according to news accounts. He said tribes have brought jobs to the region and other benefits.
