Obituary: Jones First Native bishop

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 14, 2002 The Reverend Harold Jones, the first Native American bishop, died in Arizona on Tuesday. He was 92. Jones started his career on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. He went on to serve other reservations and communities before becoming bishop in 1972. He retired in 1976 due to health problems. Get the Story:
