FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2002

Nineteen members of the Oneida Nation of New York have sued at least 25 tribal officials, alleging violation of civil rights.

The tribal members filed suit in federal court. They want a federal judge to stop the tribe from inspecting their homes, overturn the tribe's housing ordinance and put a halt to destruction of homes that don't meet the tribe's housing standard.

A request for a temporary injunction was denied on Wednesday, The Syracuse Post-Standard reported.
