Mont. tribes move on water system

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2002 Congress approved a $192 million water project for the Fort Peck Reservation and surrounding communities. The Assiniboine and Sioux tribes get most of the funding for the 10-year project. They are hoping to get $8 million for the first phase of construction of a 3,000-mile pipeline to serve 25,000 people. The money was authorized but has to be appropriated by Congress. The budget bills are due for consideration in early 2003. Get the Story:
