Charles Blackwell, the ambassador for the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, said tribal member Neal McCaleb was doing a good job as head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs in a report by National Native News.

Blackwell said an attorney for the Cobell trust fund lawsuit attacked McCaleb in The Washington Post. The attorney, Dennis Gingold, said: "It's unfortunate that we couldn't get someone to take a position as assistant secretary who was honorable and understood his obligations."

In response, Blackwell said: "That's not called for. . . Whenever you attack [McCaleb], you attack Indians, all of us."
