Okla. governor-elect says no to gaming

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2002 Oklahoma Governor-elect Brad Henry (D) supports a lottery but not Class III gaming for the state's tribes. Henry told The Daily Oklahoma that legalization of the lottery will not pave the way for tribes to offer casino-style gaming such as slot machines, card games and related games. In other states, lottery has helped tribes expand their gaming. Some tribes are negotiating with the state regarding compacts of machines on the Class II-Class III border. Class II games are defined as bingo and bingo-related. Get the Story:
