WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 4, 2002

The Shoshone-Bannock Nation of Idaho is considering changes to its enrollment policy.

Under the proposal, tribal members will have to be at least one-fourth Shoshone-Bannock blood. They can also have a combination of Shoshone-Bannock blood with other tribal heritage equal to one-fourth if at least one parent lived on the reservation at the time of the applicant's birth.

Currently, there is no blood quantum requirement. Membership is based on lineal descendancy and residency of the parent.
