FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2002

At least seven tribes have dropped out of the California Nations Indian Gaming Association, according to press accounts, while 31 others have not paid their dues to the powerful lobbying organization.

The Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians, the Viejas Band, the United Auburn Community were among those who withdrew. The complaint being cited is that CNIGA no longer represents their interests.

CNIGA officials said the departures won't hurt the organization. There are 75 tribes that belong to the group.
