FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2002

A federal mediator for the Oneida Nation land claim says talks appear to be productive, The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.

The New York Oneidas have moved to settle the claim for 250,000 acres of land. The Wisconsin and Canadian Oneidas were left out of the talks, however.

A hearing will be held May 2003 to discuss the next stage, including a trial.
