Conn. pleased about tribe's denial

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 2002 Politicians and resident of Connecticut were extremely pleased about the Bush administration's rejection of federal status for the Schaghticoke Tribal Nation. Attorney general Richard Blumenthal, who is fighting the recognition of the Eastern Pequot Tribe, said the decision was a "victory for the public interest." Rep. Rob Simmons (R-Conn.) reiterated calls to reform the recognition process. Get the Story:
