MONDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2002

President Bush has picked another corporate executive as his Treasury Secretary, according to news accounts.

John W. Snow, chairman of the CSX Corporation, a railroad company, has accepted the job although he still has to undergo an extensive background check. He is an economist and a lawyer and served in the Ford administration.

Snow replaces Paul H. O'Neill, who resigned on Friday in a huff after being asked by the White House to leave. Accompanying the exit was Lawrence Lindsey, Bush's top economic adviser.
