Oneida Nation jumps into bond market

The Oneida Nation of New York has sold $135 million worth of bonds to pay for part of a casino expansion.

The foray is the tribe's first into the market. The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has successfully offered bonds to pay for its casino expansions.

According to The Syracuse Post-Standard, Moody's rated the Oneida bonds at B1. The paper cites a Moody's report that said the casino's electronic game machines generate $106 million a year.
