TUESDAY, DECEMBER 17, 2002 President Bush signed into law a bill that authorizes a water improvement project on the Jicarilla Apache Reservation in northern New Mexico. The $45 million project is aimed at replacing the tribe's water system. The system doesn't meet federal safe drinking water standards and the waste water system doesn't meet pollutants discharge standards. The funds for the project still have to be appropriated.
