The American Civil Liberties Union has appealed a voting rights case on behalf of voters on the Blackfeet and Flathead reservations in Montana.

In a unanimous December 5 opinion, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals said Indian rights were not diluted. A lawyer for the Indian plaintiffs says the court failed to take into account related decisions.
