Murkowski to name Senate replacement

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 19, 2002 Will an Alaska Native corporate executive take Frank Murkowski's seat in the Senate? That question will be answered tomorrow. Murkowski, who was elected governor of Alaska, gets to choose his own successor. He said Oliver Leavitt of Arctic Slope Regional Corp was on the top 25 list. But in recent days, he said the field is down to six. The Anchorage Daily News names four contenders and Leavitt is not one of them. Get the Story:
