Inmates from a corrections facility in Washington are helping the Stillaguamish Tribe restore the banks of the Stillaguamish River watershed.

The tribe's BankSavers Project partnered with Snohomish county to use the inmates. Eight volunteers work daily for the three-year project, which involves 16 miles of the river. They remove noxious weeds, replant native flora, replace culverts and build fish ladders.

The project is funded by a $360,000 state and federal grant.
