MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2003 Gilbert Blue, the recognized chief of the Catawba Nation of South Carolina, is being opposed by a group of tribal members who voted over the weekend to remove him from office. The vote is part of an ongoing dispute over the leadership of the tribe. Some tribal members have asserted the right to hold new elections but the current leaders say that can't happen until a constitution is adopted. Get the Story:
