TUESDAY, JANUARY 7, 2003 "Joseph Colebut's Dec. 23 letter to The Day, “Gaming Act helps tribes become self-sufficient,” with his comments on the Time Magazine articles and Mac Turner's stance deserves a bit of examination. Joseph Colebut, (director of state governmental affairs for the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation) espresses the opinion that Time Magazine and Mac Turner, of North Stonington, “let the facts get in the way of [the story] when emotions and cultural biases are a lot easier to manipulate.” Neither Mac Turner nor Time Magazine let facts “get in the way.” They simply stated facts, as does Mr. Colebut. . ."
