Indian plaintiffs seek deadlines on reform
Facebook Twitter Email
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 8, 2003

A key part of a reform plan offered by the Indian plaintiffs in the trust fund case is a set of deadlines they want imposed on the federal government.

The deadlines are set over the next few months for Department of Interior and Department of Justice attorneys. They are meant to fulfill such basic trust duties as loyalty, care and records protection.

There are additional deadlines for the appointment and employment of key trust management staff. The proposal does not call for reorganization of the Bureau of Indian Affairs or the Office of Special Trustee.
