Conn. tribes don't mind sharing the wealth

MONDAY, JANUARY 13, 2003 Connecticut's two federally recognized tribes have their own way of sharing the wealth generated from their highly successful casinos. The Mohegan Tribe prefers to make cash donations to organizations that serve the needy. The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation likes to donate goods instead of writing checks. Both tribes gave $1 million in the past year to charitable causes, according to The New London Day, a figure that doesn't include payments to and sponsorships of community projects. Get the Story:
