TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2003

The prevailing joke about the Democratic contenders for president in 2004 refers to a field of seven. So far, there's five who have officially put their hat in the ring.

Sens. Joe Lieberman (Conn.), John Kerry (Mass.) and John Edwards (N.C.) plus Rep. Dick Gephardt (Mo.) are the obligatory Congressional candidates. Howard Dean is the former governor and Al Sharpton is the activist.

Other possible candidates include Sens. Bob Graham (Fla.) and Chris Dodd (Conn.).
