Navajo Nation installs a new president

TUESDAY, JANUARY 14, 2003

The Navajo Nation will inaugurate a new president and vice-president today in a ceremony that is expected to draw 10,000 people.

President-elect Joe Shirley Jr. and Frank Dayish Jr. were elected in November, defeating incumbents Kelsey Begaye and Taylor McKenzie Taylor. They will be sworn in along with the 88 delegates to the Navajo Nation council.
