Alaska Native youth compete in traditional games

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 22, 2003 Alaska Native students from across Alaska competed in the Junior Native Youth Olympics, held last Friday in Anchorage. About 150 students from grades 1-6 took part in events like the wrist-carry, the seal hop and the one-foot high kick. Organizers say the traditional games boost self-esteem, promote Native culture and build athleticism. Get the Story:
