Alaska Native students from across Alaska competed in the Junior Native Youth Olympics, held last Friday in Anchorage.

About 150 students from grades 1-6 took part in events like the wrist-carry, the seal hop and the one-foot high kick. Organizers say the traditional games boost self-esteem, promote Native culture and build athleticism.
