Tribal college receives $20 000 NASA grant

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 5, 2003 The Sinte Gleska University on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation in South Dakota will receive a $20,000 grant from NASA to develop ways to educate the Native American community on climate change, Senator Tom Daschle (D-South Dakota) said. The one-year grant builds community awareness about climate change. The school will develop a video to address climate change and discuss possible solutions through Native knowledge and Western science. "I am proud of Sinte Gleska University for securing this grant," Daschle said. "The Native American community, with its spiritual traditions and long histories of change, adaptation and survival, is an important audience for this educational endeavor." Relevant Links:
