Miccosukee Tribe seeks end to state police power

New legislation under consideration in the Florida Legislature would prevent state jurisdiction over crimes on the Miccosukee Tribe's land.

The bills clarify that the federal government can prosecute crimes. The tribe says the state is intruding on its sovereignty.
