The newly recognized historic Eastern Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut has finalized a constitution that brings together two factions of the tribe.

Marcia Jones Flowers, of the Eastern side, will serve as chairwoman while James Cunha, of the Paucatuck side, will serve as comptroller. The 14-member council has 9 Eastern members and 5 Paucatuck ones.

Former assistant secretary Neal McCaleb finalized the tribe's status last June. The state of Connecticut has appealed.
