Mohegan chairman blasts 'extortion' plan

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2003 The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut says a proposal from the state of Massachusetts amounts to "extortion." Chairman Mark Brown said his tribe will not stand in the way of other tribes' right to Indian gaming. He was referring Mass. Gov. Mitt Romney's suggestion that tribes in Connecticut pay $20 million to keep casinos out of Massachusetts. Get the Story:
