TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2003

Three Idaho tribes are opposing Republican-led efforts to tax their economies.

One bill would impose the state cigarette tax on the reservation. The tribes say this will jeopardize jobs and reduce much-needed revenue.

The other bill will repeal a tribal exemption to sales tax. There are some 79 other exemptions but lawmakers aren't looking to eliminate these.
