A California court is suing the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approving a landfill on the Cortina Rancheria.

The Cortina Band of Wintun Indians wants to lease 443 acres of its 640-acre reservation for the project. At maximum capacity, the landfill will accept 1,500 tons of garbage a day.

Colusa County contends the landfill is environmentally unsound.
