Pine Ridge 'death list' still scrutinized

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27, 2003 A report the FBI released in hopes of squashing rumors about dozens of deaths on or near the Pine Ridge Reservation of South Dakota still has some skeptical. The so-called "death list" includes 57 people who died during the 1970s, when police and military presence on the reservation was heavy. The FBI attributes most of the unsolved deaths to alcohol and related factors but critics say the report contains errors. The report was released in July 2000. Get the Story:
