Neb. gaming compromise clears first hurdle

Nebraska lawmakers voted 25-19 to advance a constitutional amendment that allows expands gaming in the state.

The amendment allows tribes to open Class III gaming facilities on reservation land. It also authorizes up to eight more casinos elsewhere.

The vote yesterday was a first-round vote. A total of 30 votes are needed to put the measure on the November ballot.
