FRIDAY, MARCH 7, 2003

The Stillaguamish Tribe of Washington was unable to meet with a local mayor on Thursday because the mayor didn't show up to discuss a possible casino.

Marysville Mayor Dave Weiser said he decided not to attend because of media attention. At least three news organizations reported that the tribe and the city would meet to consider the idea.

The tribe wants to open a casino on trust land but is facing opposition. The city could provide an alternative location.
