MONDAY, MARCH 10, 2003

The wife of Navajo Nation vice president Frank Dayish Jr. has resigned her $45,000 a year post that was created for her, The Farmington Daily Times reports.

Criticism of the hiring of Virginia Dayish and First Lady Vikki Shirley, wife of President Joe Shirley Jr., was heavy within the tribe. The paper was unable to confirm whether Vikki Shirley still holds her $49,000 post.

Both jobs were created solely for the wives.
