Wildlife adapts well to the presence of oil drilling but the landscape can remain scarred for decades, according to a National Academy of Sciences report released last week.

The report looked at the impacts of development in Alaska's North Slope, including effects on Alaska Natives. Observers say the findings can give insight into drilling in the nearby Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
