The trial of a man accused of raping and murdering an Alaska Native woman continues with the defense making its case starting today, The Anchorage Daily News reports.

Joshua Wade has been on trial for seven weeks. The prosecution rested yesterday after calling witnesses who tied Wade to the death of Della Brown.

Brown was found on September 2, 2000. She is one of several Alaska Native women who have been raped and killed in recent years. Most of the cases have not been solved.
