Alleged tribe claims land in Rhode Island

THURSDAY, MARCH 13, 2003 The Seaconke Wampanoag Tribe of Rhode Island has filed a suit in federal court claiming title to 34 square miles of land. The tribe says it has a deed to the land. The tribe says it will accept a land-money settlement. The tribe is not state or federally recognized. Get the Story:
