Attorneys for a man accused of raping and murdering an Alaska Native woman began their defense on Wednesday.

Joshua Wade allegedly showed the body of Della Brown to acquaintances and allegedly confessed to the crime. The defense called witnesses to question the credibility of those acquaintances, many of whom are serving time for unrelated offenses.

Brown's body was found in early September 2000.
