The Fort Belknap Tribes of Montana support a bill to dedicate more money to clean up two abandoned mines.

The tribes say the amount of money the Department of Interior has allocated for the cleanup is $33.5 million short. State Rep. Jonathan Windy Boy introduced a bill to leverage existing royalty funds to bolster the mine reclamation.

The Zortman-Landusky gold mines are located on the southern border of the Fort Belknap Reservation.
