LaDuke sickened by '7th Calvary' march into Iraq

MONDAY, MARCH 24, 2003 Native rights activist and former Green Party vice presidential candidate Winona LaDuke said she was sickened to watch the U.S. Army's "7th Cavalry advance into Iraq," The Michigan Daily reports. LaDuke spoke at the University of Michigan's law school last Friday. "I had a really bad feeling in my stomach," she said of the war on Iraq. According to the paper, LaDuke compared the war to European colonization of Indian Country. "The development of the largest economy in the world, the United States, is directly related to the underdevelopment of Native people," she said. Get the Story:
