Wash. tribe opposes plans to close salmon hatchery

TUESDAY, MARCH 25, 2003 The Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe of Washington says plans to close a state salmon hatchery will have devastating effects on salmon recovery. Wash. Gov. Gary Locke plans to close the Hurd Creek Hatchery, and two others, due to budget cuts. But the tribe's fisheries manager says the explanation doesn't make sense because the facility only spends $100,000 a year. Get the Story:
