A $5.2 million housing complex on the Navajo Nation remains unoccupied months after it was completed, The Farmington Daily Times reports.

Navajo families were expected to move into the 44 units last September. But tribal officials would not go on the record with the paper to explain why the homes are empty.

One tribal source, however, said the homes lack adequate ventilation, characterizing it as a "mistake" in architecture.
