Mont. bill raises funds for tribal college students

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 2003 The Montana House Taxation Committee considered a bill that would raise taxes on video gambling machines and direct some of the money to tribal colleges. State Rep. Carol Juneau, HB766's sponsor, said the bill would generate $16 million to $17 million per year. Of that amount, $540,000, would be given to non-Indian students to attend tribal colleges.
