Famous Ariz. reservation church gets new pastor

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 2, 2003 The Mission San Xavier del Bac on the Tohono O'odham Reservation in Arizona has a new pastor. The 205-year-old church, famous for its architecture, hired Rev. Stephen Barnufsky to replace Rev. David Gaa, who left to do missionary work in Russia and Kazakhstan. The church caters to a large tribal population. Most of the tribal members hold Catholic as well as traditional beliefs. Get the Story:
