The House Resources Committee voted 32-14 to approve a bill that opens up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling.

Approval was contained in a larger energy bill. Separately, the committee is headed to Kakotvik, an Inupiat village on ANWR's North Slope, on Saturday to hold a field hearing on drilling and another proposal that would designate the area targeted for development as wilderness.

Republicans say they will fight for ANWR drilling despite a recent defeat in the Senate.
