The Arizona Republic in an editorial yesterday said Squaw Peak in Arizona should be renamed Piestewa Peak in honor of Lori Ann Piestewa, the Hopi woman killed in the Iraqi war. Readers weigh in.

Stan Plum: "Congress can rename french fries as freedom fries. Surely our Legislature can honor a hero by substituting the name Piestewa for squaw."

Michael J. Conrad: "What American can object to removing a divisive name that honors no one, and instead choosing a name that honors Pfc. Piestewa, a daughter of Arizona who gave her life in service to our country?"

Bill Eikner: "You start out saying grief should not be politicized and then proceed to do it!"

K.D. Stowe: "Who can we call? Where do we write? What can we do to make this happen as soon as possible? Squaw is an ugly word."

Jacque Duvall: "I think your proposal to re-name Squaw Peak after our fallen daughter Lori Piestewa is wonderful."
