The Senate on Wednesday approved a bill to allow Eskimo whalers in Alaska to claim tax exemptions on whale hunts

The deduction, up to $10,000, applies to the costs of outfitting boats and crews. According to sponsor Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), it will cost the U.S. Treasury $400,000 over 10 years.
