A federal judge delayed the sentencing of Clifford Bird in Ground, ex-chairman of the Crow Tribe of Montana, in order to give his attorney more time to consider withdrawing his guilty plea of accepting bribes.

The attorney said Bird in Ground can barely read and understand English. She has asked the court to appoint a full-time Crow translator to help him make sense of the court proceedings.

Bird in Ground faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. He pleaded guilty to using tribal money to buy cars for family and friends.
